The Science Team is composed by all Principal Investigators on the selected projects. The ST will be responsible for setting and advancing the EXPORTS scientific content, direction, and priorities throughout all phases of EXPORTS.
The writing team was composed of selected participants with expertise in various scientific disciplines which was tasked with drafting a community planning effort aimed at developing a predictive understanding of the export and fate of global net primary production.
The Science Definition Team had 25 members with expertise in scientific disciplines relevant to the goals of EXPORTS, assisting NASA in developing an Implementation Plan for the EXPORTS scientific field campaign.
EXPORTS is a NASA large-scale field campaign that will provide critical information for quantifying the export and fate of upper ocean net primary production (NPP) from satellite observations. The overarching goal of EXPORTS is to develop a predictive understanding of the export and fate of global ocean primary production and its implications for the Earth’s carbon cycle in present and future climates. NASA recently selected 11 proposals to conduct the research and answer the EXPORTS science questions.
